Some questions for importing foods

In order to import foods into Vietnam, we have following procedures and issues:

Step 1: Declaration of food: Declaration of conformity or Declaration of compliance with food safety regulations

QUE: Where could we obtain the documents?

=> Point 1, Article 15, Decree 15/2018/ND-CP elaborating some articles of the law of food safety stipulates that The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade shall appoint authorities responsible for inspection of food safety of imported foods (hereinafter referred to as “inspecting authorities”) depending on types of imported foods.

Step 2: Apply for a food hygiene and safety license –

QUE: application from which country?

=> Depending on types of foods, a food hygiene and safety license is in need. The application shall be implemented in Vietnam.

Step 3: Carry out the Customs procedures for imported food 

QUE: is it from our country Custom?

=> Vietnam Custom shall control import procedures for imported food.
